Appendix B: A Thelemic Canon
Within Thelema, there is no official canon of hierological texts. Outside the A∴A∴ classification system, there is no formal system for canonizing texts for Thelemic liturgical use. Contrary to misinformed opinion in some pagan spaces, canonization is not merely about power; it is also about consistency and continuity of message and doctrine. This outline does not present an official canon of Thelemic texts, but rather a complete course of Thelemic study intended to support a consistent examination of the Law of Thelema as handed down from its first prophet. No claim is made that this is an official canon, nor is this a proposal for the formalization of any such Thelemic canon. It is offered in the spirit of study and reflection.
It should be noted that the central five texts of the Heptateuch appear in the same order as they are provided to members of Crowley’s A∴A∴ as they proceed through their grades. They are bookended by an introductory text, Liber Tzaddi, and a concluding text, Liber Porta Lucis, representing the “calling” and the “sending forth,” respectively. Aside from this particular connection, no organizational bias is intended or should be assumed in this outline.
