6.2 Thelemic Hierological Texts & Versions
The following general principles for versification can be observed in the examples below:
- Use a colon mark (:) between chapter and verse or paragraph number. Cite hierological verses with chapter and verse(s) or paragraph(s) using arabic numerals separated by a colon mark. Do not write out the numbers. When referencing consecutive verses or paragraphs, separate the first and last verse or paragraph numbers with an en dash, not a hyphen.
- A simple reference (to a chapter, a verse, part of a verse, or paragraph rather than a range) precedes a range whose starting point is the same as the simple reference.
- A reference to a specified portion of a verse or paragraph (or a range beginning therewith) comes after a reference to the whole verse or paragraph (or a range beginning therewith).
- The use of a reference to a range with no explicitly named end point (i.e., a reference using f. or ff.) is discouraged; but if used such a reference would follow any simple references and precede any references to ranges whose end points are explicitly given.
