6.1.2 Historical Eras

Use all capitals without periods for chronological era abbreviations, following Chicago usage: AD, BC, CE, and BCE. If AD and BC are used, remember that AD normally comes before the year, as in AD 325, while BC follows the year, as in 127 BC.

For most public-facing work, CE and BCE are acceptable and often preferable when writing across religious traditions. The use of EV for the common era is discouraged unless the writer is specifically distinguishing a common date from a date in the Thelemic calendar.
