2.2.1 Spelling Out Numbers

As a general rule, spell out whole numbers from zero through one hundred, as well as round multiples of those numbers. Use numerals for larger or more precise numbers. When several numbers appear in the same sentence and some would normally be spelled out while others would not, use numerals for all numbers in the same category so the passage remains consistent.

In ordinary prose, spell out nontechnical measurements when doing so reads naturally. In tables, charts, technical descriptions, or cases using abbreviated units or symbols, use numerals. Percentages should be given with numerals and the word percent spelled out in running text.
