5.4.5 Websites and Blogs

Informal online publications should still be cited with enough information for readers to identify and locate the source. A URL by itself is not sufficient. Provide a descriptive title or page title, the author or creator when known, the name of the website or sponsoring organization, and a URL that leads as directly as possible to the cited material. Blog posts are cited similarly, but should also include the author of the post, the post title in quotation marks, the name of the blog or website, the date of publication, and the URL. Blog posts may be cited in notes only unless they are especially important to the argument.
