5.1.2.2 Pre-Modern Authors

Similarly, when citing early modern or premodern Latin works by authors whose names were Latinized on the title page, use the author’s established vernacular or standard English form rather than the Latinized form. Do not reproduce genitive title-page forms or invent a nominative Latin form for the bibliography.

For example, cite Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, not Henrici Cornelii Agrippae or Henricus Cornelius Agrippa; Johannes Reuchlin, not Ioannis Reuchlin; Robert Fludd, not Robertus de Fluctibus; and Athanasius Kircher, not Athanasius Kircherus. Standard forms may be checked against reliable library catalogs, such as the Library of Congress catalog or WorldCat, and should be recorded consistently in the project style sheet when questions arise.
