5.2.19 Forthcoming Book

When a manuscript has been accepted by a publisher, placed under contract, and assigned a title, but no publication date has yet been set, use forthcoming in place of the date.

Manuscripts that are not under contract should instead be cited as unpublished works. See CMS17, §14.224–31.
