1.1.3 Formatting Basics

Use a single font and point size throughout the manuscript, except where a different font is needed for Hebrew, Greek, Enochian, or another non-Latin alphabet or specialized script. Beyond that, authors should not worry too much about making the manuscript look “designed.” Typesetting and page layout belong to the production stage.

The author’s responsibility is to provide a manuscript that is complete, readable, and easy to edit. Avoid using word-processor style settings to assign formal categories such as body text, headings, and subheadings unless the publisher specifically requests them. Likewise, do not rely on built-in indexing tools, since these features may not survive the production process.
